Cllr Rosemary Trollope-Bellew (Deepings West and Rural) joined Sir John Hayes (MP for South Holland and the Deepings) in Market Deeping to show her support for campaigners seeking to preserve Mill Field as a green space.
The Friends of Mill Field want to preserve the field as it is, so that it is available for recreational use. On 21st June 2017 they applied for village green status for Mill Field, which would protect it from development.
Mill Field is one of the few remaining green fields within the parish of Market Deeping and until 2013 was used annually for the Deeping Agricultural Show. The grassy meadows are used by the local residents for recreational activities including dog walking and jogging. Mill Field is owned by Lincolnshire County Council who are now seeking to use the land for housing development.
